Bio
I grew up in Wichita, Kansas with an early knack for English, writing, and art of all kinds. In college, my background as a pianist and clarinetist first led me to a major in music and a particular interest in music theory. A second undergraduate program in linguistics connected me to diverse fields such as languages, cultural studies, sociology, education, neuroscience, psychology, and logic. I spent time teaching and tutoring writing, the English language, and other subjects throughout my time as a student. After earning my master’s in education, I lived and taught English in Perú and Costa Rica. Editing for colleagues, faculty members, and acquaintances over the years led naturally to my current freelance work as an editor. See Credentials
What I love about editing is getting to dip my toe in a menagerie of exciting fields through working with doctoral students, faculty, and researchers. I learn so much from reading the intelligent, impactful, and sometimes deeply personal work of everyday scholars like these. It gives me great fulfillment to be a part of the journey of your research and dedication and see it through to successful publication.
I am now based out of Portland, Oregon, where I enjoy hiking, gardening, painting, singing, and trying to do some good in the world.
